Children & parents

Feel prepared for your first appointments.

It is natural to have questions when considering psychotherapy. Here, children, young people and parents can find out what to expect when they first contact us and how we work together.

For children, young people & parents

You can take the first step
without having all the answers.

As a parent, you don’t need to know exactly what support your child needs before contacting us. And if you’re coming for yourself, you don’t need to have found the words for everything that’s on your mind.

How do we arrange an initial meeting?

Please submit appointment requests through our online booking page. For administrative questions, you can also call us on 040 226 019 64. At the initial consultation, we discuss your concerns and possible next steps. We will discuss whether and when we can offer treatment based on your individual situation.

In which languages are consultations and treatments available?

We offer our services in German, Turkish and English. This includes psychotherapy, diagnostic assessments, EMDR, group programmes, and consultations with parents and other important people in a child’s life.

What can my child expect?

We start by getting to know each other. We want to understand what is difficult in everyday life, what already helps, and what questions you and your child have. Together, we discuss whether further appointments, an assessment or treatment would be helpful.

For you: What if I feel unsure?

You can come with questions, doubts, or just a feeling that things are difficult right now. When we meet, we’ll explain how we work. You can tell us what matters to you and what you don’t want to talk about yet.

Do we need a referral?

A medical referral is generally not required. You can contact us directly to make an enquiry.

How are parents involved?

Depending on the child’s age, concerns and needs, meetings with parents or carers may form part of treatment. We discuss how we will work together and answer any questions about confidentiality.

How long does the treatment take?

This depends on your individual situation and the goals we agree together. After the first few appointments, we can usually give a clearer idea of how much support may be helpful.

Still have a question? Feel free to write to us.

For you

You don’t have to tell us
everything straight away.

Talking to someone about personal things may feel unfamiliar. You can ask questions, tell us what matters to you and let us know if something feels difficult.

The first appointments give us a chance to get to know you and understand your situation. We talk with you about how we can work together.

For parents and carers

Understanding together
where support can help.

You know your child’s everyday life best. Your observations, questions and family circumstances help us understand what is happening. We involve you in treatment according to your child’s age and needs.

What can I prepare before the initial appointment?

You may find it helpful to write down your main questions and observations and have any relevant reports ready. Please also read the information on our booking page and in your appointment confirmation. Appointment requests must be made through the online booking page.

Will my information be kept confidential?

We treat the information you share with us confidentially. At the start, we discuss how we will work together and how information will be shared with parents or other important people in the child’s life.

Who covers the costs?

Your statutory health insurance covers the cost of psychotherapy and psychological assessments at our practice. More about costs and insurance
